10K Run

Looks as though turning 35 has made me go a bit coo coo. I signed up for my first 10K run and I'm not looking back! This should be a good one. It's in Galveston, in November, so you can't get better running conditions that that.

The 10K(6.2 miles) is on Sunday, 11/21, and Ryan is running the half marathon(13.1 miles) on Saturday, 11/20. This is both of our first races and we're excited!

I started my training this morning. It was good and bad. Bad being that it was so hot outside and that since I took Baxter, I wasn't able to focus as much as I wanted. He was busy sniffing other runners as they ran by, and he wanted to take pit stops constantly. Next time I'll go solo, and on the treadmill until it gets cooler outside! It was good because I figured out that I'm not in as bad of shape as I thought, yay me! This is definitely do-able.

The Noah's Ark Pool

My friend Shannon and I took our girls over to the Noah's Ark Pool for some fun in the sun! I took Addyson when she was just about 2 and she loved it, so I thought we'd give it another go. It's behind First Methodist Church in Houston.
We loaded up kids, car seats, snacks, and plenty of sun screen. We stayed for about two hours and had such a great time!

35

So today, at approximately 7:32 am, I turned the big 3-5. I have heard the story more times that I can count; I have two older sisters so naturally Mom and Dad were keeping their fingers crossed for a little boy. Back in the olden days, the 1970's, women weren't able to find out the baby's gender through an ultra sound so Mom had to wait for my birth to find out. As soon as I made my appearance my Mom asks my Dad with high hopes, "What is it?!?!?!" He says, "What do you think it is? It's another girl!" Then Mom always tells me that she looked over in the incubator at my 7.5 lb self and realized she got just what she wanted, another girl. Gee, thanks Mom!
I had a great day celebrating with my sweet family, then we headed over to my parent's for Mexican food and swimming, fun times! Couldn't have asked for a better day!

Fackrell, Pope, Johnson, McKee, & Rasmussen Family Pics

Just before the big Fackrell Family Reunion/Cruise, all 41(I think that's how many?)of us gathered for a family picture in the blazing heat. I thought they turned out pretty good considering how much we were all sweating!
I'm glad we had the opportunity to get these pics taken, it's been too long since we've all been together and had a chance to do it. The Amerman family pics will be taken in November...stay tuned!

Six Months in the Making

At the beginning of January Ryan and I decided we wanted a built in entertainment center in the living room. Ryan went to work on sketching something out that we both liked, then we put the plans in action. I'm blessed to have such a handy man in my midst! Normally projects don't take him long to finish, but this has been a crazy six months. Laney's eczema has been off the charts bad, Ryan's been going out of town for work almost every week, we've all been sick here and there, basically just had a hard time devoting time to getting the thing done.
There are a few more things we want to do to it, like maybe add recessed lighting in the top, and we need to put glass in two of the cabinet doors.

I think it looks beautiful and I'm so proud of hubby's work, thank you Ryan!

"To see if it's feeling any better"

That's the first sentence Addyson has ever read! I'm so proud of her. She has such an itch to read and she's really trying. She's really into the Junie B. Jones series of books lately, so we read a few chapters each night. Tonight's chapters were extra special because Ryan and I both sat and read with her, and that's when she read her first sentence. Such a big girl!

I'm loving that Addy has a great thirst for learning. She's a little sponge that is so excited to learn anything that she can. Way to go Addyson!

MOMMY! Where ARE you?!

Lately, I have had a reeeeally clingy toddler. Normally, Laney switches back and forth as to who her favorite is, Mom or Dad. In the past few weeks it has been ALL me. This might be flattering, some might say, but after a while it needs to be Dad's turn! She always wants me to hold her, I'm the one she wants to bathe her, make her meals/snacks, and the best part, to change her diapers. Sounds like we let this kid have the full run of the house! I guess the way I see it, in about 10 years or so, she'll be too busy for ole' Mom. Right now I indulge her and hold her all she wants. She's fun to snuggle and she loves to give hugs, and she gives great hugs!

Oh that Laney, she has me wrapped around her finger pretty tight, I'm not going to complain though!
