A Thing of Beauty

Wouldn't you agree this is a beautiful site?  It would be my grandmother, Pappy Gran's, amazing sour cream pound cake.  One bite and it brings back tons of fond memories.  I normally add chocolate chips, well, because I Iove me some chocolate.  I sure miss that sweet grandmother of mine.

Out with the old, in with the new

Ryan is one of these "get a new car every two or three years" kind of person.  For me, I want to hang on to my Tahoe as long as humanly possible.  We have become good friends, Tahoe and I.  Ok, back to the point at hand.  This morning Ryan and the girls went and picked up his new ride.  He seems pretty pleased with his new purchase.  If he's happy, I'm happy.  Happy husband happy wife, or something like that....

Old and new-

Countdown

I really don't know who's more excited about this trip, kiddos or me?!  I know, I'm starting too early, but it's part of the fun, right?

Disney World Bound

We've been thinking about/talking about/planning on going to Disney World for a couple of years now.  It never seemed like the right time to go until now.  Two weeks ago I got the wheels in motion and got my plan on.  We've got the itinerary planned to a T and I couldn't be more thrilled.  Oh wait, this isn't about me, it's for the kiddos.  Ha!  Anyway, we told the girls tonight that we're going just after Thanksgiving and I'd say they were thrilled.  The priceless looks on their cute faces was my favorite part about telling them.  We're officially on the count down!

Summer Movie Camp

At our local movie theater each Tuesday during the summer, they show kids movies and each ticket is $1.00.  Score!  Cheap entertainment for kiddos and me. Today it was "Horton Hears a Who". Sometimes we're bad and bring our own snacks in(and addyson always points out that we aren't supposed to do it.  She's the kid that keeps me in check.  Always.), but sometimes we splurge and get the whole Icee-popcorn-coke zero stuff.   Some of the movies they're showing this summer are:
Smurfs
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
Ice Age
Dolphin Tale
Happy Feet
Oceans
Rio

...and a few more I can't think of.  It's been fun, sort of our Tuesday "thing" this summer.

Addyson-ism

This morning Addyson came to me with a serious look on her face.  I asked her what was up and she says, "Mom, do you ever wish you could delete someone from the world?"
Awesome.

A Happy Father's Day

There was no breakfast in bed or sleeping late for Ryan this morning.  He's got early morning meetings at church every Sunday, but we made up for it as best we could when he got home from church.  I made sure he had his feet up and got to relax as much as possible.  Ok, he did smoke ribs on the grill, but he likes doing that so it doesn't count as work.  We gave him a few fun gifts then ended the day with dinner and an ice cream cake on the patio.  I hope he had a great day, we certainly enjoyed spoiling him.

Bird Watching

For a few weeks now we've watched a bird make a nest in our bushes, then an egg appeared, then two, then eventually two more.  This was about a week long process.  It's been fun to check on mama bird sitting on her eggs.  We forgot about it for a few days, then after dinner tonight the girls and I peeked in on the eggs and they all hatched but one.  I've never been a real nature lover but it's been fun to watch this process!

Great Wolf Lodge-Sandusky

We decided to take a little trip away for the weekend to celebrate the end of school.  We chose the great wolf lodge in Sandusky because we'd heard so many good things about it.  It was lots of fun and we wore our girls out!  There were some good water slides, a lazy river, two big hot tubs and a pool dedicated to basketball.  After getting pretty water logged the first day, we got dressed, had dinner, then finished off the day with a game at the resort called MagiQuest.  Each girl chose a wand and it was like a virtual scavenger hunt all over the hotel.  It was pretty interesting, and a fun way to  finish out the first day there.  I think we'll definitely go back, Laney is ready to go today.  We give it two thumbs up for sure!

Baker in Training

For some reason I've started baking a ton since we moved to Ohio.  Not sure if its the cooler weather that makes me gravitate towards it, but I've really enjoyed it.  I don't necessarily like having lots of treats around, but I do like making them.  Addyson had been asking me for a while now if she could make her own batch of cookies, so today I let her have a shot at it.  She did great at the entire process, I was proud of her!  I'm thinking she spaced the dough on the cookie sheet better than I do, the kids a natural.

No More School, See You at the Pool

Yesterday was the last day of school for Addyson.  She's been waiting all year for Summer!  It's been a long year, but fast at the same time.  She had a good teacher, Mrs. Knerem, and made some great friends.  Each year on the last day of school there's a carnival to celebrate so Addyson went to that and had a ball.  Lots of things to do, and of course face painting.  She's had an obsession with anything lions since she was tiny, so not surprising, that's what she chose to have painted on her face.  After the carnival we went to our neighbors house for an end of school swim party.  The girls both had so much fun.  It was a great way to finish out the year!  Summer, here we come...

Pizza Night

I've got some seriously picky eaters in my house.  The most extreme one is probably Addyson, but when I let my two help with the food making process they're way more willing to eat.  Tonight was pizza night, and some might say that everyone loves pizza, but not lane!  Crazy as it sounds, when she knows we're having pizza I get all kind of moans and groans.  She made her own pizza tonight  and I kept my fingers crossed, but no.  She wouldn't have it.  She's a stinker.  We had fun though!
