Spring Has Sprung!

And since we here in the Johnson Household are so excited about Spring, we decided to re-vamp our front yard flower beds. We asked my Mom if she'd come out and help us go pick out new flowers and put them in the ground. She got her Master Gardener Certification from Texas A&M a few years back, so needless to say she has the greenest thumb of anyone I know!
My Mom, Addyson and I headed up to the nursery to pick out all the flowers we needed, to Home Depot for a couple of bird baths, and then to Sonic for some liquid energy:)
After we got home it was a bit of a challenge for me to be any kind of help in the planting department because Delaney is into everything! She is such a mess; at one point I picked her up and noticed she had a mouth full of chalk, yuck! I couldn't believe she had a smile on her face, you know it had to taste pretty greepy.

We had a great afternoon, the yard got a great face lift and we ended the evening with some of Ryan's famous Baby Back Pork Ribs, I am THE luckiest girl, my husband actually likes cooking! I'd say I hit the jackpot...

***I took some before pics of the yard and after pics of what we did, thanks for your help Mom, we love you!!

A Labor of Love

We've been tossing around the idea of getting the girls a play set for the yard, but never really did anything about it. Ryan told me about one he found a few weeks back and we decided to go for it.

We picked up the 4 boxes and slide that made up the set, and home we took it. Ryan and our nephew Tanner started assembling it Tuesday afternoon late, and Ryan finished it up today(Friday)around noon. WHEW! What a project! I was really starting to miss Ryan since he was always in the yard;-)

The first time Addyson got on the swing yesterday and we heard her giggle, it made it all worth it...Lane is already trying to climb up the slide, guess I've got lots of teaching in that department.

I'm really proud of Ryan; the instructions read, "It is recommended that 2 moderately skilled individuals assemble play set", and my handyman husband did it all by himself!

I'm excited to see some fun times being had in our backyard, the girls(and the neighbor kids!) already love it, THANKS Ryan!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

One of my favorite days of the year, a time to celebrate mine and Ryan's Irish heritages!
I have some fun memories of St. Patricks' Day as a kid, my Mom tried to make it fun, she's pretty Irish so she always wanted to remember it each year(she made us green milk to drink with dinner!).

Mom gave an Irish name to me, and I passed it down to Delaney :)
Wonder if I should try my hand at some Irish Soda Bread??

Enjoy the luck o' the Irish today!

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

So my sister Brandy and her 2 oldest kids, Bailey and Lorelei, are obsessed with this little band called the Jonas Brothers. They've been long time fans and once my sister found out that they were going to play the rodeo this year, it was a no brainer they'd get tickets. She found some that came in a set of 4, so she asked me if I wanted to tag along!
We went to the carnival for a bit before the rodeo and concert and we had such a great time. It was a perfect day to be outside to see the sights and eat carnival food(ever had a Deep Fried Twinkie??).

Once inside Reliant Stadium we settled in our seats to watch bull riding, calf roping, barrel racing, etc.. I went to the rodeo plenty of times as a times as a kid, but I think it's almost more fun going as an adult.

When the Jonas Brothers took the stage, my gosh, I have never heard so much screaming in my entire life(and I've had 2 babies with Colic). Even my sister was screaming, I loved seeing her and Lorelei go nuts when these boys started singing, ha! Ok, ok, so I got a little excited myself when they sang a few songs I like...and that Joe Jonas is a cutie!

We had a great time and I'm so glad Brandy asked me to come along, thanks S2!

A Princess Tea

On Saturday Addyson and some of her friends attended a princess tea party/etiquette session, followed by a mini-production of The Beauty and the Beast. The girls all dressed up in their princess best and had a really great time!
She got to have her picture taken with "Belle", I think that was the highlight of the day for sure:)

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cupcakes

Ok so this is the kind of thing that happens when Ryan is out of town; I bake...Kids go to bed and I'm left alone and tend to get bored. It's not like I had a craving for these cupcakes, they just sounded like fun to make. Haven't even tasted one(but after she eats her lunch, Addyson has made me promise her she can have one!), but I can assure you, they're probably pretty darn good. Ina Garten, one of my favorite Food Network Chef's, makes the mix for these cupcakes, so it's not like I made them from scratch or anything;-)

On another note, I became an aunt for the 26th time today! Ryan's younger brother Brady and his wife Sharon welcomed a little girl named Kortney Dawn Fackrell early this morning. They live in Wyoming so it might be a little while before we get to meet her...Congrats Fackrell Family!

A Banged Up Baby

Yesterday Ryan, Grandma Fackrell and I took the girls on a walk along some trails in our neighborhood. We love going on these trails, and yesterday was such a pretty day to be outside so we took full advantage.
We reached a section of the trails where there is some playground equipment so we let the girls play for a bit. Lane was walking along the trail close to a park bench when she fell right into it. Ryan heard it from the swings where he was pushing Addyson. I felt so badly for her. It was a pretty nasty bump, but thankfully not one that needed stitches like I thought when I first picked her up to assess the damage...

Then earlier in the day she fell and scraped her knee pretty badly too. She is for sure our accident prone little one!
