Geneva on the Lake

We made our usual trek up to see Suzie in Geneva last week and had a great time.  This time was different because we got to stay in a cabin instead of a tent!  Nothing like a real bathroom close by, ha.  We went up Thursday afternoon and came home on Sunday.  We swam, the girls caught their first fish, we drove the golf cart around, took Baxter to the dog park on the camp ground, went to a beach on Lake Erie, and enjoyed some dinners with Suzie. We've kind of made our visits to Geneva an Ohio tradition and the girls really seem to enjoy it each summer.

Happy July 4th!

July 4th probably has to be my favorite holiday here in Ohio.  The weather usually reaches perfection in July and all you want to do is be outside.  We got to do just that yesterday.  Regan drive up from Columbus to hang with us again this year and we had lots of fun.  Andrea and the kids are in Utah all summer, so since he was by himself we decide to include him in our fun.  Ryan grilled sausage and pork chops and we had lots of fruit, yum.  We watched the hot dog eating contest on TV, went on a hike, the boys took naps while the girls and I went on a hunt for sparklers, we played kickball and volleyball and hunted for crawfish.  A pretty full day.  After Regan left we headed down into Cleveland to watch fireworks.  Such a perfect day and equally great weather!

Clay's Park

Last weekend we headed to a campground/water park that's about 30 minutes from us.  I loved that it was so close to home.  We camped out and there was a 10 acre man made lake that had zip lining, canoeing, several inflatables in the water for the girls to climb on and water slides.  We arrived there on Friday, and while Ryan was setting up camp, I took the girls to the indoor pool there for some swimming.  The first night Ryan made a cake in the Dutch oven and that was fun.  We did grilled cheese and some chicken on the propane stove, then called it a night in the tent.  The next day we hit the water park and it was lots of fun.  Not too bad of sunburns so that was a bonus.  That night we played volleyball, made s'mores had one more fun night of camping.  Camping is lots of work, but we definitely made some great memories with our girls!

Romp n Stomp, VBS & Volleyball Camp

So far this Summer, the girls have gone to three different camps between them.  It's a fun way for them to spend their time, and to be more active. Addyson went to a volleyball camp two weeks ago and I think she really enjoyed it.  She's taken a serious liking to volleyball and I love that.  It's a fun sport and she's really good at it.  Delaney went to a Romp n Stomp camp then she went to Vscation Bible School at a Lutheran church nearby.  Romp n Stomp is a place full of inflatables, but besides jumping on those, she learned some science things and also about different countries.  I think this has been her favorite part of summer so far.  Laney also loved the VBS, it was nice because several of her church friends were there, too. Camps sure are fun during the long summer months!
