Volunteer Breakfast

This morning was the annual Volunteer Breakfast at school. They always choose the second graders to sing so this year Ryan and I couldn't miss it.  Lane was so cute and into all of the songs.  We were so proud!

Sisters and The Plan of Salvation

Last night we invited Joe, the guy Ryan recently baptized over for dessert, along with the Sister Missionaries, and another guy that recently returned from his mission.  The sisters wanted to go over The Plan of Salvation with Joe just to make sure he understands it, and wanted  the rest of our inputs, too.  I love how the sisters included our girls in the lesson.  We had some really great discussions then ended with Tres Leches Cake and Cookies and Cream Cookies for dessert. I made a ton of cookies so I sent home to go bags with our guests.
When the lesson was over Sosyer McConnell said, "So Addyson, I REALLY like your and.  Know why?  It's also my name!"  It wa so fun for Addyson to have that connection with her, then they both realized they're favorite ice cream flavor is he same(cookie dough).  We laughed and talked probably later than we should have, but it was so nice.  A great spirit was felt in our home long after they left.

Thoughtfulness

Addyson has always known that I loved the movie, "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" when I was a kid.  She and her Dad were at a used book store not long ago when she found the book for me.  She brought it home to me and you could tell how proud she was that she found it.  I love her heart.  She's always trying to figure out what might make me, or her dad and Lane happy.  I love that quality in her, her selflessness.  I think we just might be raising her right.

Joe Pratt Baptism

About a month or so ago the sister missionaries at church asked Ryan to meet with them and an investigator named Joe.  They met a few times at the library for discussions about the church, and Ryan was always more than willing ton take the time to do it.  I think Ryan and Joe developed a repore because when he made the decision to be baptized, he asked Ryan to be the one to do it.  I thought that was such an honor for Ryan!  He's not a man of many words, but I could tell he was happy to do it.  His baptism was this past Saturday and it was really sweet.  There was a really great turnout from the members of the ward, which I'm sure made Joe feel important.  I'm glad that our family could be part of such a special day.

BFF's

These two have been pretty kind to each other lately.  I have proof in pictures!

Soloist

Last Friday all of the fifth grade girls had a chance to try out for a solo part that will be in the Spring Choir Concert.  Addyson tried out and the day before she was a nervous wreck.  She practiced the part so many times until she felt confident, then when it was her turn I know she gave it her all.  Unfortunately, the girls had to wait all weekend to find out the results.  Monday morning rolled around and Addyson found out she got a part, along with two other friends, Regan, and Emily.  The choir teacher decided to make it a trio performance instead.  I think Addyson is ok with this because she says she won't feel so nervous singing if she has more people with her.  I can understand that.
Win or lose Ryan and I were so proud of her for even trying out.  She could have easily given up because the pressure was too much, but instead she hung in there, did her best, and even got the part.  We are so proud of this relentless girl!

General Conference

Always sad to see another Conference come and go, but it's such a spiritual recharge!  This time around Pres. Monson spoke, but his talks were short.  Obviously he's getting older and I'm sure it's more difficult for him to stand for longer periods of time.  I loved all the talks that were given, I was able to take something from each one.  Grateful.
