Our Local Celeb

Each week, art teachers from all over Medina submit weather pictures to the Medina Gazette paper that students have drawn.  Much to our surprise Addysons got chosen for today's edition!  We don't get the Gazette, but the girl's bus driver does and she gave Addyson her copy today on the bus.  So cool!

A Penny for Your Thoughts

I asked Addyson if I could use her little spiral notebook to jot some things down the other day.  The first few pages she had written down some pretty neat stuff. Pretty sure it wasn't too private or she wouldn't have had it lying around!  Love the way her brain works...

Hammer and Homework

Hammer didn't want her Dad helping Addyson with her homework.  Love this crazy cat.

General Women's Conference

The rules changed a bit this year for general women's conference at church. In April's conference they decided to let all girls 8 and up attend.  I thought this was the coolest thing ever!  So nice that I could bring my sweet oldest with me to see it at church.  Last night Addyson and I made it a date and invited my Ohio best friend, Kathryn, and her daughter Lily to have dinner with us, then hit the conference.  Still wondering how I didn't get any pictures of Kathryn and Lily!  Anyway, we ate at Macaroni Grill then got to our ward building in time for ice cream sundaes with our Ward and the Medina Ward.  Addyson was so cute, she was so  geared up for the night.  She wanted her hair and outfit to be perfect, she made sure to bring the conference journal she made in Activity Days, she paid close attention, and took lots of notes!  I was super impressed by her, she's definitely an amazing example to me.  Half way through the conference she leaned over and whispered to me, "Mom, thanks so much for bringing me to this.  It's so awesome".   Wow.  And I think she has a new favorite speaker in Uchtdorf.  Can't say I blame her.  He pretty much nails it everytime.  We had an evening for the books and we made some sweet memories.  Grateful for this daughter of mine!

Gymnastics!

Laney has been asking for a while now to take gymnastics.  She was always in soccer, but after this past spring season we decided to take a break for a bit.  This was the perfect time for her to get into something else, so gymnastics it was.  She took a trial lesson last week and fell in love.  She came home telling her dad and addyson all about it, and told her friends at the bus stop about it the next morning.  I decided to sign her up, so now for an hour one day a week we get to do gymnastics.  She's so excited and I can't wait to see her perfect her goal of doing the splits and cartwheels.  Go Lane!!

Recess Duty

I decided to volunteer to be a parent helper on the playground each Monday in September.  It's only two hours long and surprisingly fun!  I got to see my kiddos interact with their friends, and I got to visit with some if their teachers.  Glad I could do it!

Sleepover Party

On Friday night Addyson had her two best friends, Regan and Sarah, over to sleepover to celebrate her birthday.  It was a night full of pizza, glass bottled Cokes (which the girls thought were the coolest), hot tubbing, a light saber cake courtesy of the birthday girl's Dad, candy, rock band, Star Wars, a way late bedtime, and donuts the next morning.  The girls had so much fun hanging out, a birthday to remember for sure!

Addyson turns 10!

Double digits, woo hoo!  Pretty sure this is the one birthday, so far, that Addyson has been really excited about.  There was something about turning 10 that she thought was really special.  And it is!  She had a pretty great day.  We all woke up extra early so she could open her presents before school, her dad and I brought her Chick Fil A for lunch at school, we met our favorite friends, the Millers, at The B Spot for burgers for dinner, then came home for some volleyball, then had some cookie dough ice cream cake.  She felt pretty important on her birthday for sure, all of her favorite friends and family remembered her and she loved it.  What an awesome day for our sweet oldest daughter!

Labor Day

We didn't have a thing planned for Labor Day, which I was thrilled about!  I figured we'd sleep in, then decide what we felt like doing.  We really didn't do much except run a few errands but it was fine by me.  The day ended pretty fun with shaving cream wars and apple bobbing.  Yes, apple bobbing.  Lane is pretty excited for Fall to come(she knows her birthday is in the fall...)so she thought it would be fun to do something Fall-ish.  It turned out pretty funny.  The pics I got summed it up well!
