Ortho Treatment Round 2

Two weeks ago I took Lane for a consultation with our Orthodontist to see what she thought about the current state of her teeth.  As it turns out she was in great need of some Ortho work.  Her upper bite is super tiny and she's got some teeth crowding.  She had some impressions done and was fitted for an expander.  It's taken some time to get used to it, and I can understand her frustration.  It's tough to chew up food with one of those bulky things in your mouth.  In a few months she'll have to get braces, along with the expander that will be in quite a while.  Lane has been a trooper and I keep reminding her that when its all over with she'll have a perfect smile!

Columbus Getaway

Ryan told me last week that he needed to go to Columbus to get some work done on Saturday, and since weekends are no fun without him, the girls and I decided to go with him.  I'm so glad we did because we needed some time away and a change of scenery.  Christmas did us in this year with the Flu and Strep throat, and we needed some fun.  After we checked into the hotel Ryan dropped the girls and I off at the mall to shop, and he went into work.  I didn't complain much about that.  Ha.  Addyson got some new clothes, we had ice cream, got Baxter a new sweater and bone, and just walked around.  After Ryan picked us up we went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner.  We ate at Carrabbas which was a blast from the past.  I worked there for three years back in the 90's.  The food was as good as I remembered.  After that, we headed over to Dave and Busters to play some video games.  It was fun!  I hadn't been there before and it was a good place to take the kids.  Sunday we got up and headed over to COSI, it's basically a big hands on museum for kids.  We've been wanting to get over there for a while and I'm glad we were able to do it.  Lane and I really wanted to stay in Columbus an extra day, but school and work called.  We needed to get out of town for a bit and I'm so happy we got to go.

Book of Mormon in 365 Days

This year in Gospel Doctrine class at church we are studying the Book of Mormon.  Since Lane was just baptized and kids are a bit older, I thought it'd be a good idea for us to read the BofM as a family this year.  I found a chart where we read so many scriptures a day and we can finish in a year.  We've done really great so far.  It amazes me how Lane won't hardly sit still for Family Home Evening, but she'll sit still for scripture study, and even participates.  After we finish reading each day we talk about what we've just read.  Sometimes we each have a different thought about what we've read.  It's neat to see what I get out of reading, and what maybe Addyson has.  It's brought our family closer and obviously we are learning more about the Book of Mormon.
