CRHS Cougar Stars Dance Clinic

Addyson is our little dancer in the family. She loves any form of it, ballet, getting her jam on, trying her hand at ballroom with her Dad, and so on...
A friend of mine told me about a dance clinic that the Cinco Ranch High School Cougar Stars were putting on so I figured this would be right up the little one's alley. It was from 12-5, pretty much all day, so I wasn't sure how she'd feel about that. She was fine with it, in fact, when I brought her to the school one of the girls on the drill team took her by the hand, then they skipped off and I didn't even get a wave or a , "Bye, Mom!" Instead of making me sad, I was relieved...
At 4:30 that afternoon all the families of the girls in the clinic were invited to come up to the school and see a performance that the girls put on. It was so CUTE! They did a short routine to Miley Cyrus', "Pumpin' Up The Party"(Addyson's new favorite song, of course). I was a bit worried if she'd freeze up while dancing in front of so many people but she did great! She was so excited to show off her new skills that she seemed to get over any nervousness pretty quick.

Ryan got some pics of her, but I guess the lighting was wrong, or maybe the camera was on the wrong setting. Either way the pics are still good...

Glad that Addyson had such a great time doing this, maybe one day she'll go far with this dancing thing??

Thank Goodness for Super Why and Beautiful Weather!

What a beautiful day we're having in Katy, TX today! When Addyson's carpool came to pick her up this morning for school I couldn't believe how nice it was outside. I came back in, got Lane and myself dressed then got ready to go on a run. It makes running so much more enjoyable when the sun isn't pounding on you and you have a cool breeze to go along with it. I was able to run faster and go farther this morning, yay me :)

As soon as we got back home Lane starts yelling, "Super Why MAMA, Super Why!" She is in love with this show on PBS. Ryan and I have recorded a few episodes so we'll have them on hand for emergencies, ha ha She's been watching it while I've gotten a few things done around the house.

I'm making what looks to be an easy, yummy, and fairly healthy dinner for us tonight. Ryan came home from work yesterday and announced that he'd only had 600 calories so far that day. Hmmm. Guess he's trying to tell me he's starting to watch what he eats, I can take a hint! No more Blue Bell for him, and if you know Ryan you know behind his family, this is his favorite thing, ever.

Here's what's on the menu for tonight, along with some fresh green beans;

Chicken Cordon Bleu

8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
8 slices of deli ham, thinly sliced
8 slices Swiss Cheese
2 eggs
1 cup milk
2 cups Corn Flakes, crushed
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. parsley flakes

Flatten chicken breasts with a meat mallet. Place 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese on top of flattened chicken. Roll chicken up and secure with a toothpick. Whisk together eggs and milk. In a separate dish, blend corn flakes with seasonings. Dip chicken in egg mixture and roll in corn flakes. Place in greased baking pan. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.

And I found another recipe that looks good, think I'll make it and give it to a neighbor or something, I don't need to consume any more carbs than I do. I love to bake things, but know I don't need to be eating them!

Sour Cream Sweet Bread

1 1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
3 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Cream first 5 ingredients together. In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients together. Mix dry ingredients with creamed mixture. Pour batter into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Both recipes came from this cookbook, and it's a good one!

A Sweet Ride...

Ryan flew in from Kentucky last night late only to find that his truck wouldn't start at the airport. He ended up having to go rent a car rather than try and figure out the truck's issue that late. Knowing that Addyson has been the car enthusiast lately, he brought home a yellow convertible Corvette. No offense to anyone reading, but I think yellow is the most hideous color on a car! I was a tiny bit embarrassed by the YELLOW car in the driveway, but hey, Addy thought it was cool...I got a call early this morning from my neighbor Shannon asking, "So, what's with the car??" Ha!

I had to get a few shots of the hot rod before we took it back, Addyson had fun riding in it!

Spaghetti Love

Just after the girls ate their dinner of spaghetti and (homemade!)meatballs, Lane made her way over to my chair and said, "Love you, Mama". Oh MY! My heart completely melted. This was the first time she ever said that to me, and the fact that she could put that feeling into words was amazing...Such a sweetheart of a little girl. *sigh*

Party Time for Addyson!

We had a fun birthday party for Addyson at Inflatable Zone Katy. She got to invite a few of her favorite friends, and they jumped to their heart's content! We had pizza, a YUMMY cake, then came home and tore open all of her presents.

She's pretty much into anything princess and Barbie so she really racked up with the fun stuff this year! Thanks to all who came and made the party a success!

Happy 5th Birthday, Addyson LeeAnn!

WHERE has the time gone? Seems like yesterday that I was in the midst of a marathon 20 hour labor with this little one! She is growing up to be a really neat little girl. I enjoy the time I spend with her. When I need to run an errand I always want to take her because she's such a help. She's really smart, I love to have conversations with her and just pick her brain. I'm glad she belongs to me, what a great kid!! Oh and she's super funny, she keeps Lane and me laughing all day :)

Addy had a great birthday today. She got some fun presents, got to go to Carino's for lunch(she wanted to go somewhere that has pizza, so Carino's was the obvious choice!). Melanie and Bennett joined us and it was a great time.

Later on in the day Ryan made her a really fun Barbie cake. It's a tradition that Ryan makes the girl's birthday cakes for them. I always enjoy seeing what he comes up with, he did great this year!

Happy Birthday my sweet one! Looking forward to spending many, many more birthdays with you!
